An Ugly Pair of Shoes

A friend gave me this poem last night.... and it is so true.. you never know till you put on those ugly shoes.. and give that ugly cry.. what it is really all about... you think you are safe, you think you have this world made.. and then your world crashes.. But then, you pick yourself up... and you lean on your friends and loved ones.. and you WILL make it though... I know I can .. I KNOW I can...

Any Ugly Pair of Shoes

I am wearing a pair of shoes.
They are ugly shoes.
Uncomfortable Shoes.
I hate my shoes.
Each day I wear them, and each day I wish I had another pair.
Some days my shoes hurt so bad that I do not think I can take another step.
Yet, I continue to wear them.
I get funny looks wearing these shoes.
They are looks of sympathy.
I can tell in others eyes that they are glad they are my shoes and not theirs.
They never talk about my shoes.
To learn how awful my shoes are might make them uncomfortable.
To truly understand these shoes you must walk in them.
But, once you put them on, you can never take them off.
I now realize that I am not the only one who wears these shoes.
There are many pairs in the world.
Some women are like me and ache daily as they try and walk in them.
Some have learned how to walk in them so they don't hurt quite as much.
Some have worn the shoes so long that days will go by
before they think of how much they hurt.
No woman deserves to wear these shoes.
Yet, because of the shoes I am a stronger women.
These shoes have given me the strength to face anything.
They have made me who I am.
I will forever walk in the shoes of a woman who has lost a child.

6 KIDS?!!! WHAT?! HOW DO YOU DO IT?!
Every-time. Never fails... Every-time we walk in to any grocery store or anywhere out of the house... we get SOME kind of looks or snarls or...whatever.

At first it was hurtful... now I usually just roll my eyes.... at first the girls were hurt but now we talk about it and laugh. Some of the comments. Wow are you done yet? Or the do you know what makes that? yes. Yes I do... Oh the thoughts and come backs....but usually I just smile and nod. I don't smile when I hear "Oh, your Poor husband." Dude. I am the one that spends 24/7 with them. what do you mean my poor husband... :-P
I know that they are trying to make conversation... I know most people don't have a filter... But the ones that I LOVE hearing? Wow! you are SO blessed! Look at all those girls! So pretty. and well behaved and polite! It is a lovely feeling.... and those out weigh the bad ;-)

BUT , on to HOW I do it... well... I don't. WE do it. We are a family and work together! Some days, just you muddle through... other days it is amazing... You watch them grow, learn, and so much more.
Another thing we get the WOWs for or the stares... we also homeschool... now REALLY how DO you do that.. somedays we don't! We played monopoly today.. they were counting back money, they have to figure out how to 'buy' properties but not over spend... Boo got a hard lesson on that one.. but the next game she realized it and bam, she is beating us all! Most days, they have reading, writing, science, bible, history, HomeEC and who knows what else..They know, get it done THEN play... it motivates them to go pretty quickly. ;-)
Are we perfect? He*l no. But are our kids loved? Yes. Are they fed 2304 times a day. Yes. (I promise.. even if Bee comes to you with those sad eyes and says.. are you SURE we didn't just eat lunch... ) yes. I promise, you just ate. Wait 2 hrs for a snack dude. Are they learning and growing? EVERYday. Yes. Do they fight? For SURE. The older four help in the kitchen and the older two cook a few nights a week. They do their own laundry. The secret? There is none. They know the rules. if they break them there are consequences... Do we have bad days? For sure...and do I shout? shh... maybe.. ;-) but, we are ALL always there for each other. always. For me it's like walking and chewing gum... (WITH YOUR MOUTH CLOSED PLEASE!!) you just do it. You take what you have and go with it. Because that is what we do, we have faith in God and we just Do.  That may not be the answer that most people want to hear...but it is what keeps us going. So, we will keep doing <3 font="" nbsp="">

This blog sparked my thoughts on this whole subject <3 cid="sm_fbn_pt</font" community.today.com="" http:="" parentingteam="" post="" yes-all-of-my-kids-are-the-same-gender-what-i-wish-you-knew="">

Funny how time flies

It is so funny how time flies so fast. So many times I revisit this blog and think how awesome the memories , but how long ago it was.... I was so thankful the other day when I was checking up on the blog and found that I had written down my moms' cinnamon roll recipe...We still have the recipe but a child of mine had gotten a hold of it and ripped the edge (and ate it.) and it was un readable :-( So thankful I had written it down here!

So much has happened in the last few years time to update a tad.. ;-)

Miss FF is 13 now and is full of sass and spunk but is a beautiful little girl and loves to be a little mommy (most the time)
Miss TT is 11 and also full of sass and spunk but she has a heart of gold. She also loves baking and reading. If you don't see her with a book, something is wrong. ;-)
Miss Boo is 7 and is full of life and dances everywhere she goes. She also has so much love for animals.
Monkey is 6 and is quite the character. She is quiet most the time, the rest of the time she has a passion for learning that is just amazing to watch.
Little Bee is a mover. and a thinker, an asker, a noise maker. (holy crap) but she too has such a passion for life.
Baby girl #6 was born. We nick named her SGT. What a blessing she is. She is full of life, spunk and loves her nursing time. She is saying all the cute words like mama, dadda and you can understand a lot of what she is trying to say, but she sticks to signing for most of it ;-)

HomeSchooling has also been quite the journey but all of the girls have a passion to learn and it is amazing to watch them grow. We get to spend time together doing so many fun things. And we school through out the year so there isn't a 'time loss' like most kids have.

Thank you if you got this far, I really am going to push to update more...I miss this! ;-)

PNP gets a thumbs....

I have been Cloth diapering for over 5 years. (with a small break ;-) )
I have used ALMOSt every kind of diaper.. and for every kid it has been different in what I liked. I started out with prefolds and gerber pants.. BAD NEWS.
Then I did prefolds and covers while I made my own.. That was fun!
But then I made to many and got sick of that..
Then I found some china cheapies, because at the time.. we could afford NOTHING. That lasted a long time... I really like them, and are great for first timers that need to get started..
but I definitely suggest getting something that will last and support WAHM! and a local mom and was impressed!
The diaper lasted through a BIG pooh... (sorry TMI ;-) )
AND the next diaper lasted 4 hours before it was damp on the outside...
Amazing diapers, Lovely lady with a big heart and can't wait to get my hands on more!!! :-D

Let's Talk about cloth diapers.. ONE of my favorite subjects actually!!!
First up: the kinds I like-
Alvas for all around use and affordability.
But RNR.. they are freaking cute, hold ALOT and the owner is a lovely lady (no, I don't get brownie points for that .. ;-) ) https://www.facebook.com/RockinRumps If you want more info on the ALVA email me ;-)

Second up... why the heck would "YOU" switch.. Hello? It will save YOU MONEY. If your going "EWW but I have to deal with POOOHHHH" keep reading.. if you don't believe me it WILL save you money check this out-
Your average newborn - at 6months they will use anywhere from 6-12 diapers A DAY. at (this is cheaply) at .19 cents a diaper that comes out to 273.6 in just the first *6* months!
This is a fun little calculator. http://www.diaperpin.com/calculator/Calculator.asp
The average price for prefolds are $2. THe average price for covers are about $15.(from this site: You will break even in 8.73 weeks or 2.01 months) For fitteds they are about $30 each. For alva plus insert they are $6 each(ISh)(from the site: You will break even in 11.01 weeks or 2.53 months.)

Now the Ew factor.. ya.. you deal with POop.. guess what, you wipe the babies butt you have to "TOUCH" it anyways! If your baby is EBF (Exclusively Breast Fed) you don't have to DEAL with the POOP! you just throw it (the diapers NOT the baby!) in the washer! Now, I know everyone isn't as fortunate. BUT if you FF(Formula feed) You get to deal with Peanutbutter POOH and you can make yourself a EASY sprayer that attaches to the toilet, OR you can buy one ;-) OR you can use a shower head and spray it off in the toilet. Many options.. don't be scared. You can also you cloth wipes and it eliminates the cost of those to! Make sure you take care of the poop asap. The longer it sits the more problems you will find. Also, use an open bucket method. don't put a lid on it.. also creates more problems.. Do your laundry everyother day and you shouldn't see any issues!

Cleaning: I personally follow This lovely ladys' advice: http://www.dandelionsonthewall.com/2012/04/how-to-care-for-your-cloth-diapers.html . I use CS (country save) and white king. They are simple, cheap! If you don't want to use CS then you can even make your own (here:http://duggarsblog.blogspot.com/2011/03/duggar-recipe-liquid-laundry-soap.html) OR use tide! Please note.. NOT all laundry detergents are created equal when it comes to CD (cloth diapers) http://www.diaperjungle.com/detergent-chart.html

My routine- I put the washer on the rinse cycle, throw all diapers and covers in (about 20) let it run with cold water. THEN I Restart the washer, Put 3/4 of a scoop of CS (found online, yokes, or huckleberries!) and a scoop of white King (found at fred Meyers, walmart and I'm sure online!) And I run a hot wash(full cycle). THEN I do that again but in cold water. AND Then again... ;-) if you are having some stink issues (I will go more into detail in a later post) BUT most have found THIS website helpful: http://confessionsofacrunchymommy.blogspot.com/2013/06/dirty-little-secrets-or-cloth-diaper.html?m=1 BUT I usually just throw a tad bit of bleach in the first WASH and if I'm still having issues then I make sure I lift the lid durning a rinse cycle and make sure there are NO bubbles.. when you pull them out of the washer they should smell like NOTHING ;-)
Now on to dry! If you have PUL ( plasticy feeling stuff most covers are made of) then you want to dry them for 20 min on med heat once a month to seal the PUL other than that TRY to hang dry them.. Your diapers will love you :-D

If your still having issues I would love to try and help you trouble shoot.. Please feel free to email me or check out this lady : http://confessionsofacrunchymommy.blogspot.com/2013/07/ammonia-burns-every-mommas-nightmare.html?m=1
