Let's Talk about cloth diapers.. ONE of my favorite subjects actually!!!
First up: the kinds I like-
Alvas for all around use and affordability.
But RNR.. they are freaking cute, hold ALOT and the owner is a lovely lady (no, I don't get brownie points for that .. ;-) ) https://www.facebook.com/RockinRumps If you want more info on the ALVA email me ;-)

Second up... why the heck would "YOU" switch.. Hello? It will save YOU MONEY. If your going "EWW but I have to deal with POOOHHHH" keep reading.. if you don't believe me it WILL save you money check this out-
Your average newborn - at 6months they will use anywhere from 6-12 diapers A DAY. at (this is cheaply) at .19 cents a diaper that comes out to 273.6 in just the first *6* months!
This is a fun little calculator. http://www.diaperpin.com/calculator/Calculator.asp
The average price for prefolds are $2. THe average price for covers are about $15.(from this site: You will break even in 8.73 weeks or 2.01 months) For fitteds they are about $30 each. For alva plus insert they are $6 each(ISh)(from the site: You will break even in 11.01 weeks or 2.53 months.)

Now the Ew factor.. ya.. you deal with POop.. guess what, you wipe the babies butt you have to "TOUCH" it anyways! If your baby is EBF (Exclusively Breast Fed) you don't have to DEAL with the POOP! you just throw it (the diapers NOT the baby!) in the washer! Now, I know everyone isn't as fortunate. BUT if you FF(Formula feed) You get to deal with Peanutbutter POOH and you can make yourself a EASY sprayer that attaches to the toilet, OR you can buy one ;-) OR you can use a shower head and spray it off in the toilet. Many options.. don't be scared. You can also you cloth wipes and it eliminates the cost of those to! Make sure you take care of the poop asap. The longer it sits the more problems you will find. Also, use an open bucket method. don't put a lid on it.. also creates more problems.. Do your laundry everyother day and you shouldn't see any issues!

Cleaning: I personally follow This lovely ladys' advice: http://www.dandelionsonthewall.com/2012/04/how-to-care-for-your-cloth-diapers.html . I use CS (country save) and white king. They are simple, cheap! If you don't want to use CS then you can even make your own (here:http://duggarsblog.blogspot.com/2011/03/duggar-recipe-liquid-laundry-soap.html) OR use tide! Please note.. NOT all laundry detergents are created equal when it comes to CD (cloth diapers) http://www.diaperjungle.com/detergent-chart.html

My routine- I put the washer on the rinse cycle, throw all diapers and covers in (about 20) let it run with cold water. THEN I Restart the washer, Put 3/4 of a scoop of CS (found online, yokes, or huckleberries!) and a scoop of white King (found at fred Meyers, walmart and I'm sure online!) And I run a hot wash(full cycle). THEN I do that again but in cold water. AND Then again... ;-) if you are having some stink issues (I will go more into detail in a later post) BUT most have found THIS website helpful: http://confessionsofacrunchymommy.blogspot.com/2013/06/dirty-little-secrets-or-cloth-diaper.html?m=1 BUT I usually just throw a tad bit of bleach in the first WASH and if I'm still having issues then I make sure I lift the lid durning a rinse cycle and make sure there are NO bubbles.. when you pull them out of the washer they should smell like NOTHING ;-)
Now on to dry! If you have PUL ( plasticy feeling stuff most covers are made of) then you want to dry them for 20 min on med heat once a month to seal the PUL other than that TRY to hang dry them.. Your diapers will love you :-D

If your still having issues I would love to try and help you trouble shoot.. Please feel free to email me or check out this lady : http://confessionsofacrunchymommy.blogspot.com/2013/07/ammonia-burns-every-mommas-nightmare.html?m=1
